The Garrison Institute is pleased to facilitate this opportunity for area residents to join in an ongoing meditation practice

The Tergar Meditation Community of the New York Hudson Valley is part of an international meditation community under the guidance of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. Our weekly meditation groups are free and open to all. If you are new to meditation and would like to learn more, or if you are a seasoned practitioner and would like to deepen your practice, please join us as we explore the practice of mindfulness.

Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's approach to meditation focuses on working with the challenges of day-to-day life to create a peaceful mind and open heart. Feel free to drop in for any of our scheduled meetings. These groups are open to Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike.

The meditation group meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8pm. Meeting rooms are in parentheses.

  • Opening Sessions - New topics, readings and meditations are introduced, discussed and practiced.
  • Deepening Sessions - Focus on integrating the principles and practices presented in the previous opening session with daily life and refining one's experience in meditation.
  • Practice Sessions - Provide an opportunity to focus on the meditation practices presented in each section.

Meeting Room Directions

All directions start from front entrance. Please always use the front door when entering and leaving the building.

  • Meditation Annex: Straight ahead through first set of double doors, then through second set of double doors into Meditation Hall. Meditation Annex is the room on the left. Please leave your shoes outside the Meditation Hall.
  • Rathskeller Room: Take hallway to the right to the end through the double doors. At the end of the hall, go down the stairs. Rathskeller is the first room on the left.
