The Garrison Institute hosts a weekly sitting meditation open to the public. Held on most Wednesdays from 7:45-8:30 am in the small meditation room in the Institute, and led by Garrison staff, it features some instruction and reflections on practice by the meditation leader as well as a time for silent sitting meditation. The meditation practiced is from the Buddhist teachings on mindfulness, concentration, and "calm abiding". It is most appropriate for people with some meditation experience as basic orientation and instruction is not included. Having said this though, beginners are welcome too.
On some Wednesdays when the Institute has a large group in residence the sit needs to be cancelled. This is always announced the previous week, but calling to check is a good idea: 845.424.4800.
The Garrison Institute also hosts a Tuesday evening meditation at 6:30-8pm based on Mingyur Rinpoche's Joy of Living curriculum. For more information about this group, please check here.
Retreats and gatherings at the Garrison Institute provide resources for personal growth, professional convening and deepening engagement with the world.
