With the return of this in-person workshop to Garrison Institute, Meredith Monk and Ellen Fisher will offer a place where voice, movement, and image intersect to create an opportunity for us to discover our own personal richness. We will explore how the outbreath expands into sound, tone, and resonance, and work with exercises to deepen our listening and awareness of our environment as well as the voices coming through us.
Join poet Norman Fischer and novelist Ruth Ozeki for a unique writing retreat based in Zen meditation, deep wisdom, and the path toward the greater good. Both teachers are Zen priests, and the retreat itself will consist of workshops, feedback, and time apart for solitary reflection and work. All levels of meditators and writers are welcome.
This retreat is an invitation for experienced and new practitioners to deepen in wisdom and compassion. Join us in practice—in the midst of success and difficulty, collective and personal—to quiet the mind, open the heart, and awaken to courage, joy, and steady compassion together. Through heartfelt teachings, dialogue and questions, wisdom practices, delicious silence, and the psychology of the awakened heart, we will learn how to live with inner freedom and love and to bring these blessings to the world.
This workshop is for anyone that wants to write a song that counts: for ourselves, for the people (or pets) we love and for the world. Our songs can be funny, heavy, catchy or sappy. We’ll just be looking for ways to say what we really want to say.
The Garrison Institute Writer’s Circle seeks to hold space in our busy lives for creative practice. We meet monthly for a collaborative writing workshop that includes time for meditation, reflection, writing, and sharing. All writers are welcome to attend this free, ongoing program.
