2019 Insight + Impact Benefit Dinner honoring Rhonda Magee and Philip Glass
Please join us for evening of inspiration and insight as the Garrison Institute celebrates 16 years of transformative programming during our annual benefit dinner. We are proud to honor the invaluable contributions both Rhonda Magee and Philip Glass have made to society, as the Garrison Institute presents them with this year’s Insight & Impact Award on October 15th at Landmark on the Park in New York City.
As a law professor and dedicated advocate for social equity, Rhonda Magee has impacted the lives of countless students and professionals. She is internationally recognized as a thought and practice leader integrating mindfulness in higher education, law and social justice. Rhonda has been a teacher at the Garrison Institute with Mind & Life Institute, and more recently co-created a Mindfulness for Social Justice program and community event, which she will be returning to lead in 2020.
Philip Glass, who is one of the most influential composers of the 20th Century, has inspired generations with his music. Through his operas, his symphonies, his compositions for his own ensemble, and his wide-ranging collaborations with world-class artists and creators, Philip Glass has had an extraordinary and unprecedented impact upon the musical and intellectual life of our times. Notwithstanding his tremendous output, Philip has always found time to join and support the Garrison Institute, even in its earliest stages of creation.
Plans are underway for a beautiful evening. We are planning a cocktail reception followed by a violin performance by Joanna Kaczorowska, and a meditation lead by Sharon Salzberg. Jon Kabat-Zinn will join us in presenting Rhonda with her award, and we will close the evening with a special musical performance by Aaron Diehl and his trio playing selections from Philip’s iconic.
