Compassionate Leadership for the Age of Radical Interconnectedness- Garrison Institute International
Join Nobel Peace Prize laureates in conversation with Global Sustainability Leaders in a series of dialogues presented by Garrison Institute International (GII)
On Friday May 28 at 9:00 a.m. EDT (3:00 p.m. CEST), join a dialogue on compassionate leadership for a radically interconnected age with Nobel laureate Kaylish Satyarthi and longtime Unilever CEO Paul Polman. Satyarthi campaigned to end child labor and trafficking and establish a universal right to education. A corporate sustainability pioneer at Unilever, Polman is co-founder and chair of IMAGINE, a social venture network of business leaders collaborating on systems change to achieve global sustainability goals.
They’ll discuss how the global economy, while profoundly unfair and unsustainable, also profoundly interconnects us, global North and South alike, and what business leaders and consumers can do to make this interconnectedness visible and leverage it for good. Satyarthi proposes an inclusive “supply chain of gratitude” that credits and rewards every contributor to this vast web, so “the survival of humanity can be helped through globalizing compassion.”
The dialogue is presented by Garrison Institute International (GII), and is part of a larger virtual conference on “Driving Systems Change – Corporate Leadership for the Sustainable Development Goals,” organized by the Rotterdam School of Management in collaboration with the Garrison Institute International, the European Platform for Compassionate Leadership, PeaceJam and Flow Impact Fund. The full conference will run from May 26 – 28, 2021.
On May 28, Garrison Institute International’s co-presented dialogue with Kaylish Satyarthi and Paul Polman will take place from 9:00 – 9:40 a.m. EDT (3:00 – 3:40 p.m. CEST). Sander Tideman, Executive Director of Garrison Institute International, will moderate the full day’s program on May 28, which takes place from 9:00 a.m. EDT to 12 noon EDT (3:00 p.m. CEST to 6:00 p.m. CEST). The day’s program will continue with a panel discussion on the implications for future leadership, and breakout sessions on public and civic leadership.
Registration for the free, online conference is available here. Registrants are welcome to attend as much of the conference as they would like.
This is the first in a series of dialogues Garrison Institute International will present connecting compassionate leaders, including Nobel laureates and major European institutions, with the energy of students and young professionals who aspire to create systemic change.
