Forum: Jon Kabat-Zinn & Jonathan F. P. Rose on Meditation and Planetary Health

On Tuesday September 14 at 2:00 p.m. EDT, join meditation teacher, author, clinician and pioneer of mind/body medicine Jon Kabat Zinn in a conversation with Garrison Institute co-founder Jonathan F. P. Rose on how meditation can help promote planetary health by transforming human mindsets. The session will include guided meditations led by Kabat-Zinn. He’ll offer suggestions for bringing our lives as we lead them and the life and wellbeing of the planet into meditation practice, so there’s no separation between them.

Jon Kabat-Zinn is internationally known for his work as a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher engaged in bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society. He is the founder of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society. He’s the author of the bestsellers Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain and Illness and Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life.

This interactive online event is part of a continuing series in the Garrison Institute’s Forum on Pathways to Planetary Health (PPH). Building on the Garrison Institute’s earlier Climate, Mind and Behavior (CMB) program, Pathways to Planetary Health explores the moral, ethical, and human behavioral dimensions of the search for regenerative solutions, including Half-Earth, Ecological Civilization, Regenerative Economics, and Societal Altruism.

This live webinar will be conducted on Zoom at 2:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday September 14, 2021. The webinar link will be emailed to participants within twenty-four hours of registration.
