In-Person: Unplugged – A Sound and Yoga Retreat

In today’s world of endless noise and distraction, we invite you to slow down and bask in silence, healing sound, and nourishing, transformational practices.

Join your guides Amy Soucy, David Ellenbogen, and Shawna Emerick for a true digital detox. Restore and renew with yoga, breath work and meditation practice aided by the deep power of sound meditation.

Throughout this joyful, inspiring weekend, experienced facilitators Shawna and Amy will offer a variety of transformative embodied practices: from vinyasa, hatha and restorative yoga, to movement sessions, breathwork, and meditation. Every body, every ability will be welcomed and supported.

Notable musician David Ellenbogen (Brooklyn Raga Massive/Acoustic Mandala Project) once again brings his musical mastery to create deeply healing sonic environments, utilizing Tibetan bowls, gongs, and a variety of global instruments ideal for meditation and deep restoration.

Garrison’s 95-acres of tranquil park, gardens, meditation labyrinth, forest and trails will connect you to the serenity and wild beauty of the Hudson Valley at the height of Spring.

This retreat is an opportunity to slow down, recharge, and reconnect to the peace, power, and wisdom within you.

The health and safety of our guests and staff is a top priority for the Garrison Institute. We continue to follow the health and safety guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 as set forth by our local officials, New York State and the Center for Disease Control. Please visit this page for more information about the new safety protocols in place as well as answers to frequently asked questions.

Shawna Emerick has over 600 hours of Yogic trainings and certifications completed since beginning her Yogic journey.  Having experienced yoga for the first time while completing her degree in dance, Shawna soon became a dancing yoga instructor living in NYC.  Now with even more practices to offer, she continues to help people create “happy, healthy, and confident lives” thru use of them all; reiki, Thai Massage, and Life Coaching for Transformation.  Shawna also continues to be faculty on yoga teacher trainings, lead various retreats+workshops, and be a serious student herself.  She loves her two kids, husband, and dog! www.shawnaemerick.com

Amy Soucy is a yogi, movement junkie, and devoted student of the mind-body connection, Amy’s teaching is a holistic blend of creative movement, breathwork and meditation, and an invitation to come as you are and explore the wisdom and wonder present in each unfolding moment. With extensive training in the Integral and Anusara yoga methods, study of complementary modalities like Feldenkrais and functional movement, and a committed Vipassana meditation practice, she brings her extensive skills and more than 14-years experience to students in a wide range of settings. Amy also facilitates movement and mindfulness experiences for group events and conferences and has been leading yoga retreats in the Hudson Valley and internationally since 2011. She believes strongly in the transformative nature of retreating with others, and she’s beyond excited to be returning to Garrison with Shawna and David!  www.resonantheartyoga.com

David Ellenbogen has studied and performed music in over a dozen countries including India, Mali, Cuba, Brazil and has expanded the audience for world music through his radio broadcasts on WKCR, his podcast NYC Radio Live, and ambitious live productions like the Ragas Live Festival, a 24 hour, 24 set live with over 70 musicians. His work as guitarist and artistic director of Brooklyn Raga Massive has led to praise in the New York Times for  “Preserving the past while blurring genres in an inventive spirit”  and the Wall Street Journal for  “Expanding the notion of what raga—the immersive, epic form of Indian music—can mean.” David co-founded the Acoustic Mandala Project (Putamayo), which explores the potential of raga based ambient music for yoga and meditation. He has since led many Sound and Yoga retreats from upstate NY to Costa Rica.  www.davidellenbogen.com
