Profound Treasury Winter Meditation Retreat
Surrounded by natural beauty and far from the clamor of our busy lives, the serenity of the Garrison Institute offers the ideal conditions for contemplative practice. Participating in a group retreat is an important way to deepen one’s practice of meditation, settling our minds and opening our hearts.
During this 7-night immersive retreat, participants will focus on the practice of mindfulness and awareness meditation. Meditation practice provides us with the tools needed to reflect deeply and directly on our own experience and connect to our hearts, body, and sense perceptions as the ways through which we connect to our world. In particular, we will explore the way meditation was taught by the Venerable Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, and how it is presented in the The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma.
This mostly silent retreat will be primarily focused on meditation, but the daily schedule will also include guided meditation and talks, yoga and walking meditation, discussion groups, readings, free time, and individual meetings with a meditation instructor.
This retreat is perfect for both new and experienced practitioners. If you are new to the retreat experience, please provide us with some background information by sending an email to Derek Kolleeny at firstname.lastname@example.org, who will send you a form to fill out.
Led by veteran Profound Treasury teachers Derek and Jane Kolleeny.
Derek Kolleeny became a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1976. He earned a B.A. in Buddhism from Harvard College and teaches at the Westchester Buddhist Center and Rime Shedra NYC.
Jane Kolleeny has been studying and practicing Buddhism since the early seventies when her teacher Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche arrived in Boulder, CO. Jane is the Garrison Institute’s Retreats Director and teaches at the Westchester Buddhist Center.
