The Literary Society at Garrison Institute: A Weekend Retreat
The Literary Society member’s weekend retreat underscores a commitment to the canon of literary works by writers of the African diaspora in careful discussion and study of The New Negro: The Life of Alain Locke, by Jeffrey C. Stewart, winner of the 2018 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
Integral to suspending regular routine is the insight gained from a change of pace. While the weekend will be programmed with three book discussion sessions there will be ample time to find a quiet place of your own, walk a trail(s), and enjoy the camaraderie of just being. Other group activities include yoga, meditation, labyrinth walk, staged play reading, and movie night. The Garrison Institute, picturesque and peaceful in the midst of nature’s landscape, provides the perfect setting for a weekend of readers and thinkers.
This is a private retreat, open only to members of the Literary Society. Please email Lana Turner at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
