Toko Kyudojo: 20th Anniversary Celebration with Don Symanski
Toko Kyudojo is pleased to invite you to our 2018 Spring Intensive, our eleventh spring program at Garrison and our twentieth annual intensive with Don Symanski.
We will offer refresher first shot instruction for those who are rusty, or have forgotten all together. We plan to do castle shooting, revisit group forms that we given to us in the 1990s by Kanjuro Shibata XX.
Don Symanski is Toko Kyudojo’s senior teacher and a longtime friend. Don first led a program for Toko in 1998, and has returned to teach annually since. Don is an experienced and experimental maker of bamboo bows, an accomplished photographer, a quiet and skillful teacher of meditation kyudo, and a warm, generous human with a strong sense of humor. He began the study of kyudo with Kanjuro Shibata Sensei XX in 1980, and was a bow making apprenticed with Nobuhiro Shibata (now Kanjuro Shibata XXI) in Kyoto, Japan in 1991; since then, he has made bows and has practiced and taught Kyudo around North America and in Europe. Don lives in Lafayette, Colorado.
