Toko Kyudojo: Just Your Practice: Annual Intensive with Don Symanski

In this program we will look closely at our personal kyudo practice. The challenges of engaging the kyudo form with deeper effort allows us to experience our practice in a more intimate way. These very challenges are the means by which our intentions and motivations to practice are exposed.

Teacher:

Don Symanski is Toko Kyudojo’s senior teacher and a longtime friend. Don first led a program for Toko in 1998, and has returned to teach annually since. Don is an experienced and experimental maker of bamboo bows, an accomplished photographer, a quiet and skillful teacher of meditation kyudo, and a warm, generous human with a strong sense of humor. He began the study of kyudo with Kanjuro Shibata Sensei XX in 1980, and was a bow making apprenticed with Nobuhiro Shibata (now Kanjuro Shibata XXI) in Kyoto, Japan in 1991; since then, he has made bows and has practiced and taught Kyudo around North America and in Europe. Don lives in Lafayette, Colorado.
