A teaching based on the Advice to Tashi Lhawang by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye
This retreat is a unique opportunity to receive heartfelt teachings on the essence of the spiritual life offered by one of the great Tibetan Buddhist masters of the 19th century. Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye’s Advice to Tashi Lhawang is a short text with profound instruction on spiritual practice as well as advice on how to relate to ourselves and others in our daily lives. These words of advice are as relevant today as they were when they were written; they provide a guide for transforming our daily life into a genuine path of dharma.
Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, a well-known spiritual figure and the subject of the book, A Cave in the Snow, by Vicki Mackenzie, is uniquely placed to offer this teaching with her clear, engaging and witty style.
Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo was born in London in 1943. When she was twenty years old she traveled to India and soon after met her teacher. In 1964, she became one of the first Western women to be ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun. After twelve years of study and frequent retreats during the long Himalayan winters, she sought complete seclusion. She found a remote cave, where she practiced intensively for another twelve years. Cave in the Snow: A Western Woman’s Quest for Enlightenment is the story of her life. Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo is a renowned champion for the rights of women to attain spiritual enlightenment. She is the founder of Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery in India.
