SUMMARY:Breath\, Body\, Mind Workshop with Ron Hershey
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed for anyone looking to develop better coping skills for handling stress and anxiety\, and will incorporate ancient and modern techniques to improve physical and emotional well-being. Based on the work of the eminent integrative psychiatrist and author\, Dr. Richard Brown of Columbia University\, this approach utilizes repeated rounds of gentle movement\, guided breathing and meditation to address imbalances of our stress response system. \nAppropriate for anyone regardless of their level of previous experience with breathwork or meditation. \n  \nTIMING\nThe course will run from 2:30 p.m. ET to 5:30 p.m. ET on Saturday September 13\, 2025. \nCheck-in will run from 2:15 p.m. ET to 2:30 p.m. ET \n  \n  \nAbout Breath-Body-Mind\nThis approach has been used very successfully with those who have been previously frustrated in their attempts to meditate. Long time meditators have reported an added dimension to their practices with the BBM approach. Combining simple coordinated movements borrowed from Chinese Qi Gong and a technique known as coherent breathing\, Breath-Body-Mind has been found helpful in the treatment of PTSD. It has been taught to large groups as part of mission relief work in disaster areas such as civil-war torn Sudan and Rwanda\, post-tsunami Japan\, and in post-9/11 New York City\, to traumatized first responders. \n  \n  \nTEACHER\n \nRon Hershey is a nationally board-certified acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist in practice for 28 years. He has studied and taught this approach for the past 14 years. He considers it the single most effective approach for stress and anxiety management. \n  \n  \n_______ \n  \nCOVID-19\nThe health and safety of our guests and staff is a top priority for the Garrison Institute. To attend a retreat or event all guests\, teachers\, and staff are required to self-test (at home antigen test is acceptable) within the 48-hour window prior to arriving for a retreat on site\, and to bring a 2nd self-test kit when coming on site. We encourage everyone to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and other illnesses before your visit.
