SUMMARY:Home Is Here: Healing Racial Harm with Compassionate Care - A 3-Part Course
DESCRIPTION:Home Is Here\n Healing Racial Harm with Compassionate Connection\nHosted by Rev. Liên Shutt\n  \nWhat does it mean to attend to our suffering in body\, heart\, and mind when racism has caused such intense hurt and pain; individually and collectively? \nIn this 3-part series\, we’ll begin our journey on the Path of restoration from the results of the dominant culture’s racism by examining deeply and fully individual and collective conditioning. With courageous honesty\, we investigate how we may have been misled\, misinformed\, perhaps\, even colluded in perpetuating or creating hurt and harm. \nWe’ll engage in readings and practices from Rev. Liên’s book Home is Here: Practicing Antiracism with the Engaged Eightfold Path which emphasizes wholeness-based interactions\, or Compassionate Connections\, with each other. \nCourse series format includes meditations and opportunities for participants to engage in mindful\, compassion exercises and interactions individually and with each other\, supporting and allowing us to let go of old beliefs. We’ll engage in anti-oppressive practices\, building new skills and behaviors\, strengthening confidence in individual and collective abilities to heal from the hurts and harms of racism as we practice co-creating liberation for all. \nTo foster brave spaces\, this workshop will have teachings and instructions for the full group while exercises and processing will be in BIPOC or white-identified affinity dyads or small groups. \nThis course is open to all. \n  \nTIMING\nAll sessions will run from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET \nTuesday October 15\nTuesday October 22\nTuesday October 29 \nThe Zoom link will be emailed to you within 24 hours of signup. \n  \nSCHOLARSHIPS\nA limited number of scholarships are available for this retreat. Please click here to apply. Please do not sign up for the retreat if you have submitted an application.
