Michael Lerner, M.D., is President and co-founder of Commonweal, a health, environmental and educational center in Bolinas, California, and co-founder of Smith Center for Healing and the Arts in Washington, D.C. He is also co-founder of the Commonweal Cancer Help Program, Health Care without Harm, the Collaborative on Health and the Environment, and The New School at Commonweal. He is the author of “Choices in Healing: Integrating the Best of Conventional and Complementary Approaches to Cancer” (MIT Press).
He serves on the boards of the Global Greengrants Fund in Boulder and the Wildflowers Institute in San Francisco. He is also president of the Jenifer Altman Foundation and the Barbara Smith Fund, and Chair Emeritus of the Health and Environmental Funders Network.
