Caregivers play a vital role in our communities, whether in intimate family circles larger social networks, or the wide array of helping professions in healthcare, palliative care, education, humanitarian aid, social justice, and more.

Often it is caregivers who support the front lines of our society: helping those who face challenges on a daily basis. However, this support can come at a high personal cost, leading to frustration, exhaustion, and a fast track to burnout.

The Institute offers restorative workshops and retreats for caregivers that explore the immense resilience of the human spirit and help participants combat stress and find greater balance while serving others.

The Contemplative-Based Resilience (CBR) Project and Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education (CARE) for Teachers, are our two signature programs for caregivers. The CBR Project addresses the psychosocial, spiritual, and embodied dimensions of resilience for humanitarian aid workers, and CARE for Teachers fosters compassion and mindfulness in teachers in at-risk environments.

For both of these signature programs, we worked over several years to develop the methodology, identify and hire key program staff, and have delivered and grown the program through its nascent stages.
