Walking Path from Train Station to Garrison Institute

If you wish, you can walk from the Metro-North Railroad station in Garrison to the Garrison Institute. We would not recommend taking this trail during inclement weather or if you are carrying a larger bag or wheeled luggage.

1. This is the entry point to the path, just cross the train station parking lot. You will find it on your right, beyond the cars….

2. Stone marker to the path’s entryway with golden leaves during the autumn months.

3. Midway on the pathway, there’s a lovely wooden bridge that crosses a creek.

4. Continue across the bridge to meet the path.

5. Part of this trail is called Marcia’s Mile. It is dedicated to Marcia Favrot (1947-2002), a Garrison resident and benefactor of the arts.

6. Filtered light on a recent morning.

7. Past the gazebo nestled in the trees on your right, you will come to the lower field of the Garrison Institute.

8. Turn left and climb the steps to the monastery.

9. Along the stone steps, asters and Autumn Joy sedum during the spring bloom.

Welcome to
the Garrison Institute!
