Building Resilience for Communities

Building Resilience for Communities:

A workshop to enhance capacities

in the Hudson Valley

How can cultivating resilience capacities—like emotional regulation, social connection, and deep relationship with nature—support our work and well-being in these uncertain times?

Join an upcoming, experiential workshop designed for those on the front lines of climate adaptation, community regeneration, conservation, and regional response and recovery efforts in the Hudson Valley. Participants will deepen their personal and collective capacities for resilience, drawing from science and the skills and wisdom cultivated through contemplative practices.

This workshop includes a delicious lunch and is free of charge for a limited number of participants in the Hudson Valley.

We’ll work with models of resilience from psychology, ecology, and systems thinking — examining how individuals, communities, and ecosystems can experience disruption, reorganize, and thrive in the face of adversity.

Participants will have the opportunity to be resourced and recharged at the beautiful Garrison Institute. Through guided practices and peer exchange, we will learn practical tools and evidence-based methods for cultivating resilience. We will also deepen our understanding of why resilience matters and apply insights to our work throughout the Hudson Valley.

The workshop features the Garrison Institute’s Pathways to Planetary Health initiative and the Contemplative-Based Resilience program, with an emphasis on blending science with core practical tools. We will also explore how a systems view of connection with community and nature can provide a clear sense of purpose and support ongoing preparedness for communities.
