With 165 deeply engrossed retreatants, the Garrison Institute was at capacity right through 4th of July morning for Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche’s five day teaching on “The Path of Liberation – Milarepa’s Songs of Realization.” With his usual effervescent presence, incisive mind and irrepressible humor, Mingyur Rinpoche expounded on Milarepa’s instructions for realizing the ultimate “nature of mind” and guided participants in direct, experiential inquiry.
As a follow-up to the retreat, we are very happy to announce that the Hudson Valley Tergar meditation group will hold its first meeting at the Garrison Institute this Wednesday, July 7th, from 6-7:30pm. The meetings will take place several evenings each month, featuring meditation exercises and discussion based on Mingyur Rinpoche’s books The Joy of Living and Joyful Wisdom. People of all faiths and all levels of experience are welcome. There is no fee for this event. The next meeting will occur on Wednesday, July 21. For more information on Tergar’s local meditation programs go to Tergar website. For information on future meetings at Garrison Institute, contact Tergar Hudson Valley coordinator Max Maksimik.
